The Research Department of Bethlehem Steel Corp., located at
the Homer Research Laboratories in Bethlehem, Pa.,
is the company's primary resource for steel-related
research and technology development. Our mission is
straightforward:
develop technology that improves our manufacturing
processes and products -- with the single-minded aim of
helping Bethlehem's customers obtain the maximum value
possible from our steel products. This ambitious aim
directs a surprisingly broad range of projects -- from
defining refractory technology that optimizes blast
furnace life to inventing a product custom-tailored to
serve the needs of an individual customer.
Staff
Homer Research Laboratories is staffed by over 200
researchers -- scientists, engineers, analysts and
support people -- who explore the art and science of
steel with a principal purpose: to build the very best
into our products.
