Robert A. Rudzki
Vice President, Business Development and e-Business
Bethlehem Steel Corporation

Born in West Bromwich, England, Mr. Rudzki graduated summa cum laude from Lehigh University in 1975 with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and a minor in chemical engineering. In 1977 he graduated from The Wharton School with a master's degree in business administration (major in finance, minor in marketing).

During the course of his studies, and prior to joining Bethlehem Steel, Mr. Rudzki had work experience in manufacturing (freight car production), consulting (to a major money center bank), and supply and distribution (for a major oil company). Following graduation from Wharton, he joined Bethlehem Steel as a member of the corporation's Loop Course management training program and was assigned to the Finance Department's credit division.

He advanced through all areas of the Finance Department, including credit, financial planning, asset divestitures, treasury, and risk management. In 1988, Mr. Rudzki was elected Assistant Treasurer with responsibility for Treasury, Risk Management and banking/financing activities. He also served as a trustee of the Pension Trust. Mr. Rudzki received the certified cash manager distinction from the Treasury Management Association and is past president of the Treasury Management Association of Central Pennsylvania. He has served on the Pennsylvania State Treasurer's advisory committee on electronic funds transfer.

In 1993 Mr. Rudzki was elected assistant controller of the corporation, with responsibility for corporate accounting and analysis, business analysis, capital appropriations, financial reporting, financial forecasting and cost accounting. He continued to serve as a trustee of the Pension Trust.

In 1994 Mr. Rudzki advanced to the position of general manager, purchasing and transportation and in 1996 he was elected Vice President, Purchasing & Transportation and Chief Procurement Officer. In that position, he had overall corporate responsibility for purchasing, transportation and supply-chain activities, and joined Bethlehem's Corporate Management Committee. In addition, effective January 1, 1998, Mr. Rudzki was given management responsibility for Bethlehem's Subsidiary Railroad group of 11 operating companies. In 1998, Mr. Rudzki was also appointed to the Investment Committee of the Pension Trust.

In early 2000, Mr. Rudzki advanced to the newly-created position of Vice President, Business Development and e-Business, with corporate responsibility for the identification, development and management oversight of new business opportunities leading to substantial growth for Bethlehem. Reporting directly to the new Chairman and CEO, he is also officer-in-charge for developing and coordinating Bethlehem's e-Business strategy, including strategic investments. Mr. Rudzki continues as a member of the Investment Committee of the Pension Trust.

Mr. Rudzki has been a frequent speaker at professional conferences and associations, including the Manufacturers Alliance, International Institute for Research, the Conference Board, and NAPM.

Mr. Rudzki is a member of the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP), the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM), the Manufacturers Alliance, and the Conference Board. A resident of Bethlehem, Pa., Mr. Rudzki has been active in the community, and presently serves on the Muhlenberg College Board of Associates, and the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, Lehigh Valley Chapter. He and his family reside in Bethlehem.
