Sparrows Point Not Affected by Mulch Fire at adjacent Facility

    BETHLEHEM, Pa., August 8, 2002-A three-alarm fire broke out at about 4:30 a.m. this morning at a mulching facility adjacent to Bethlehem Steel's Sparrows Point, Md., division. The fire is not affecting Bethlehem's manufacturing operations in any way.

    The land is leased to Environmental Recycling and Waste and it is not affiliated with the Sparrows Point division. Fire Departments from across Baltimore County are at the scene. No injuries have been reported, and the fire has since been upgraded to four alarms.
