BETHLEHEM, Pa., October 1, 2001 - The appointment of Leonard M. Anthony to senior vice president and chief financial officer, Bethlehem Steel Corporation, effective immediately, was announced today by Robert S. Miller, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer.
Mr. Anthony will have the overall responsibility for Bethlehem's financial management activities and will retain the position of treasurer. He succeeds Gary L. Millenbruch, vice chairman and chief financial officer, whose retirement was announced today.
A native of Bethlehem, Mr. Anthony earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University in 1976 and was awarded a master of business administration degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. He also earned the designation Certified Cash Manager from the Treasury Management Association.
Mr. Anthony joined the credit division of Bethlehem's finance department in 1979 where he progressed to administrative manager in 1982 and to credit manager in 1985. The following year, he joined the financial services division as director, financial services, and in 1990, was promoted to director, risk management. He was appointed manager, financial planning and risk management, in 1993; elected to assistant treasurer in April 1998 and to the position of treasurer in October 1999. He was elected vice president, finance, and treasurer in August 2001.
Mr. Anthony and his wife, Pamela, are the parents of a daughter and reside in Lower Saucon Township, Pa.
