Bethlehem Steel Announces Successful Consent Solicitation

    BETHLEHEM, Pa., June 6, 2001 - Bethlehem Steel Corporation announced today that it has received the necessary consents to amend its 10 3/8% Senior Notes in accordance with the consent solicitation dated May 23, 2001.

    To allow the remaining investors time to fully evaluate the offer, Bethlehem has extended the solicitation until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, New York City time. All other elements of the consent solicitation remain the same.
