Paul Mendy is appointed superintendent of transporation at Sparrows Point Division

    BETHLEHEM, Pa., April 30, 2001 - Paul B. Mendy is appointed superintendent of transportation at Bethlehem Steel Corporation's Sparrows Point Division in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

    Mr. Mendy succeeds William Van Heel who retired with more than 36 years of company service.

    A native of Lackawanna, N.Y., Mr. Mendy joined Bethlehem Steel at its Lackawanna, N.Y., plant in 1968. He completed a bachelor of science degree in geography from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1972 while working at Lackawanna.

    Over the years, Mr. Mendy progressed through various transportation positions at Lackawanna, most recently serving as supervisor of transportation and purchasing for the Galvanized Products Division located there.

    Professionally, Mr. Mendy is a past member of the Transportation Council of the Erie County, N.Y., Industrial Development Agency.

    Mr. Mendy and his wife, Linda, are the parents of two adult children. Currently residents of Orchard Park, N.Y., the couple plans to relocate to the Baltimore area.
