    Bethlehem Steel Corporation
    For Immediate Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa., April 24, 2001 - In response to media inquiries concerning whether Bethlehem would seek concessions with the United Steelworkers of America should the union grant them to LTV Steel, the following response was provided:

"Employees of Bethlehem's steel producing and finishing operations are generally represented by the United Steelworkers of America. If the steelworkers' union grants concessions to any of the major integrated steel companies, Bethlehem will pursue such concessions with the union for its operations to ensure a level playing field among the steel companies whose employees are represented by the USWA."
