    For Immediate Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa., May 15, 2000 -- Services and solutions to improve rail operations are being offered through a web site managed by the subsidiary railroads of Bethlehem Steel Corporation.

Railquest.com will market the knowledge and expertise of more than 100 years of successful shortline and industrial rail operations. Available services range from short- and long-term consulting to improve financial and safety performance to actual, on-site, day-to-day rail operations.

"The Railquest.com companies have a long, successful and profitable history of operations excellence. We have expanded our client base in recent years to serve a wide variety of industrial clients located on or near Bethlehem Steels properties. In addition, we have successfully entered the intermodal business as a way to further expand our opportunities in providing excellent rail services to a multitude of customers," said J. Michael Zaia, president of Bethlehems subsidiary railroads.

"We want to be the shortline solutions company," Mr. Zaia said of Railquest.com.

Railquest.com was created to assist any firm that owns a railroad as well as those that use rail services. Consulting services about specific business management matters include human resources (including labor relations), payroll and accounting, procurement and engineering, among others. Rail operations management expertise is available in areas of equipment (locomotives, rail cars and trackwork) as well as logistics and engineering.

The subsidiary railroads, now offering consulting services as Railquest.com, have developed excellent working relationships with Class 1 railroads to improve service to their clients and the customers of their clients. Each year, the Railquest.com railroads of Bethlehem Steel interchange hundreds of thousands of carloads with Class 1 railroads.

In the next few weeks, Railquest.com will offer apparel with logos of the nine subsidiary railroads that form Railquest.com. Rail fans will be able to order a wide variety of shirts, hats, jackets and gloves, among other items, online through www.railquest.com.
