    BETHLEHEM, Pa., March 30, 2000 - In response to media inquires concerning the March 23 presentation at Georgetown University by Curtis H. Barnette, chairman and chief executive officer, Bethlehem Steel Corporation, the following information was provided:

    Mr. Barnette addressed the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service�s Leadership Seminar held last week on the Georgetown campus in Washington, D.C.

    He discussed four key themes -- in his presentation entitled the "Business of the Future" -- globalization, consolidation, e-Business and international trade. Mr. Barnette stated that how businesses deal with each of those issues will help determine their level of success in a global economy. The Bethlehem chairman used examples and insights from his leadership positions in business, legal and governmental fields to address the forces that will continue to influence businesses and, therefore, economies around the world.

    The Georgetown Leadership Seminar was attended by business and governmental leaders from such diverse nations as Monogolia, Spain, Columbia, Laos, the United Kingdom, the United States and Zimbabwe. In addition to Mr. Barnette, speakers included key leadership of the U.S. government, the United Nations, the World Bank, the Cato Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and leading faculty members from Georgetown.
