Larry N. Blake appointed General manager, commercial, at Bethlehem Steel Corporation's headquarters

    BETHLEHEM, Pa., June 13, 2000 -- Lawrence N. Blake has been appointed general manager, commercial, at Bethlehem Steel Corporation's headquarters.

    In this new position, Mr. Blake will be responsible for various commercial activities relative to Bethlehem's plate sales and e-Commerce activities.

    A native of Mountain Lakes, N.J., Mr. Blake received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Colgate University in 1969. He has also taken executive education programs at Harvard College, Duke University and the University of Michigan.

    Following graduation from Colgate, he joined Bethlehem Steel and then worked in a variety of sales positions before being named manager of the Grand Rapids, Mich., and, later, the Detroit sales offices.

    Mr. Blake was named manager of plate products marketing in 1988 to manage Bethlehem's national plate sales. He was then named vice president, commercial, at the Sparrows Point, Md., Division in 1993 before he was appointed vice president, commercial, at Bethlehem Lukens Plate in Coatesville, Pa., following Bethlehem's acquisition of Lukens Inc. in May 1998.

    Professionally, Mr. Blake is a director of the Steel Service Center Institute and a member of its shape and plates committee.

    He and his wife, Jacqueline, are the parents of three adult children. They reside in Chadds Ford, Pa.
