BETHLEHEM, Pa., November 3, 1999 -- In response to media inquiries concerning Bethlehem Steel Corporation's participation at the upcoming World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference, the following statement was provided:

"Curtis H. Barnette, chairman and chief executive officer, Bethlehem Steel Corporation, will serve as a member of the U.S. delegation to the World Trade Organization at the request of Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, United States Trade Representative."
