native of Johnstown, Pa., Mr. Jones received a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University and attended the Stanford University Executive Program in 1995.
Mr. Jones began his career with Bethlehem as a member of the Loop Course following graduation from Villanova and first worked in the steelmaking department at the corporation's former Johnstown plant. He was transferred to the former Bethlehem, Pa., plant in 1977 and served as superintendent, steelmaking, from 1980 to 1982 and then manager, technical services, until he was transferred to Bethlehem's Sparrows Point, Md., Division as superintendent, steelmaking, in 1983. In 1993, he was named superintendent of Sparrows Point's cold sheet mill operation.
While at Sparrows Point, Mr. Jones played a leadership role in the modernization of the division's steelmaking and continuous casting facilities and in the development of the division's new $300 million cold mill complex, which became fully operational in 2001. He was promoted to vice president, operations, at Pennsylvania Steel Technologies in 1998. In 2000, he was named vice president of operations at Bethlehem's Burns Harbor Division. He was named vice president, operations services, in Bethlehem's corporate offices in late 2001. Mr. Jones was appointed to his current position in December, 2002.
Professionally, Mr. Jones has been active in the Iron and Steel Society and the American Iron and Steel Institute.
A resident of Bethlehem, he is married and the father of three children.
