An experienced sales and marketing team maintains regular contact with customers and ensures that all Burns Harbor operations receive direct communications on customer needs and problems. This includes sending production and management teams to customer plants for a firsthand understanding of product requirements. In turn, customers are encouraged to visit Burns Harbor, as well as to attend its steelmaking seminars.
Customer service representatives facilitate communications
Customer service representatives are the frontline communications link between Burns Harbor and the customer, facilitating order processing and follow-up through delivery.
Outside processing helps Burns Harbor meet exact customer specifications
Burns Harbor also uses selected and fully qualified outside processors to satisfy specific customer requirements. These may include mechanical processes such as blanking, slitting, cutting to length, edge trimming and tension leveling. They also encompass hot-dip galvanizing, electrogalvanizing, coil coating with either standard paints or specialized organic coatings, as well as managed terminal storage and other distribution services.
Quality teams are proactive at all levels of operations
Quality teams in place throughout the Burns Harbor operation are made up of production, sales, engineering and customer service personnel. Their primary objective is to make sure all pertinent customer information reaches the shop floor and becomes part of the quality improvement process.
