Highly trained people, second-generation computerization and closed-loop control make
Burns Harbor a leader in producing cold-rolled sheet to exact customer requirements.
- Thickness: .022 to .117 inch
- Width: 24-5/8 to 73 inches
- CQ to EDDQ
- Yield strengths to 100,000 psi
Burns Harbor cold-rolled sheet is an industry leader in flatness, surface quality,
controlled chemistry, dimensional accuracy and overall consistency in mechanical
properties. The 80-inch tandem mill maintains precise control of thickness and surface
quality, using a unique, closed-loop system to automatically adjust the tension and speed
of the strip passing through the mill, as well as the gap and force of the mill rolls.
This produces cold-rolled sheet with a superior consistency that helps give customers a
competitive edge in both performance and cost.
Wide range of sizes and grades
Cold-rolled sheet is available in a wide choice of sizes, strengths and grades for
almost every customer need, from the most severe forming applications to 100,000 psi yield
strength. We supply cold-rolled products for many end-use applications, including
appliances, containers, office furniture, tubing, automotive parts, bicycles and water
heaters.
Choice of finishes, including texturized
A selection of surface finishes is also available, including a leather-grained
texturized surface ideal for appliances.
Continuous heat treating improves steel surface cleanliness and mechanical
properties
Burns Harbor is one of the few steel producers in the USA that incorporates a
continuous heat treating line (CHTL) into its process. This produces high-strength and
commercial-quality steel with excellent uniformity of mechanical properties, surface
cleanliness and predictable formability. |
