BethForm 400 is a unique low-carbon plate product that provides a level of high abrasion resistance, making it ideal for particularly tough, demanding applications. It is designed to provide through-thickness hardening with improved formability and weldability. Its proven abrasion resistance results from its spectrum of available hardnesses, ranging from 360-440 BHN. Equally important, BethForm 400 has a carbon content maximum of .16%, resulting in improved carbon equivalents. Typical carbon equivalents are in the range of .38% to .42% for plate thicknesses through 3/4". This composition compares favorably with typical quenched-and-tempered abrasion grades that have inherent carbon content ranges of .20% to .28%. The end product is an abrasion plate manifesting superior plate chemistry, as well as vastly improved weldability, formability and toughness, when compared to traditional abrasion plate grades. Moreover, BethForm 400 benefits considerably from Bethlehem's roller-quench process which exposes the entire plate surface to rapid, high-volume, high- pressure water-quenching, improving hardness uniformity and plate flatness.
