DiGiacinto Appointed to
Vice President, Automotive Sales

BETHLEHEM, Pa., September 30, 1999 -- The appointment, effective October 1, 1999, of James D. DiGiacinto to vice president, automotive sales, for Bethlehem Steel Corporation was announced today by Curtis H. Barnette, chairman and chief executive officer.
Mr. DiGiacinto is advancing from general manager, automotive sales, in Bethlehem's Detroit sales office. He will remain in the Detroit area while reporting to David M. Beinner, newly elected senior vice president, commercial, in the corporate headquarters and Daniel G. Mull, newly appointed vice president, commercial, Burns Harbor Division.
A native of Bethlehem, Mr. DiGiacinto received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Rutgers University in 1970 and attended the University of Michigan's Executive Program in 1997.
Mr. DiGiacinto joined Bethlehem Steel in 1970 as a member of the Loop Course management training program and then completed the sales department's training. Following a military leave of absence, he was assigned as a salesman in the Detroit sales office in 1972. He then was transferred to Bethlehem in 1983 as a product specialist and was promoted to district sales manager in Baltimore in 1986. Mr. DiGiacinto returned to Detroit in 1988 as manager of sales and was named to his current position in 1995.
He served in the Army and Air National Guard from 1970 to 1977.
Professionally, Mr. DiGiacinto is a past member of the Detroit chapter of the Steel Service Center Institute.
A resident of Troy, Mich., he and his wife, Maryanne, are the parents of three children.
