Bethlehem Names Suppliers of the Year
Bethlehem Steel Corporation
For Immediate Release
BETHLEHEM, PA, May 23, 2000 -- Bethlehem Steel Corporation has named fifteen companies as winners of Bethlehem's Premier Supplier Award, it was announced today by Duane R. Dunham, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
The winners were chosen from more than 7,000 suppliers from around the world that provide Bethlehem with $3 billion worth of products and services each year.
"These suppliers represent the best of the best," said Mr. Dunham in announcing the awards. "A premier supply chain is a vital element in meeting our customers' requirements for exemplary quality, service, technology and cost."
Premier suppliers of the year met or exceeded a very demanding set of criteria including quality, performance and cost demonstrated through their service to Bethlehem in 1999.
According to Thomas J. Conarty, Jr., senior vice president, procurement, information technology and logistics, the Award program emphasizes the value Bethlehem places on suppliers that share its corporate vision to Be the Premier Steel Company. "Solid business partnerships with progressive dedicated suppliers are essential to our success," he said. "These award winners exemplfy the standards we are working to develop with all of our suppliers. It is only fitting that we showcase the performance of these fifteen companies with the recognition they so richly deserve," said Mr. Conarty.
This year's list of honorees includes several multiple year winners. "This is especially noteworthy," said Mr. Dunham, "because no credit is given for prior awards." This is the third consecutive year Bethlehem has recognized its Premier Suppliers of the Year.
