BETHLEHEM, Pa., July 14, 1998 -- Bethlehem Steel Corporation today announced the signing of an agreement with Electronic Data Systems, Inc., (EDS) whereby EDS will provide information technology services to the newly formed Bethlehem Lukens Plate in Coatesville, Pa.

The agreement is an extension of the long-standing Bethlehem-EDS Information Technology Partnership Agreement which was completed in December 1992.

Effective August 1, EDS will be providing data processing, application development, personal computer and network support, as well as telecommunications management services, to Bethlehem Lukens Plate. The terms of the agreement will continue through 2002, the expiration date of the existing Bethlehem-EDS Partnership Agreement.

Also involved in today's announced agreement is the transfer of 25 former Lukens Inc. employees to EDS. Transfer of personnel will begin as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition.

Data processing hardware will initially remain at Bethlehem Lukens Plate offices in Coatesville but will be transferred to EDS facilities in Plano, Tex., later this year.
