BETHLEHEM, Pa., December 13, 1996 -- In response to requests from the media for comment on the nomination by the Clinton Administration of Charlene Barshefsky as the U.S. Trade Representative, Curtis H. Barnette, Bethlehem Steel's chairman, issued the following statement:
"We fully support the President's nomination of Ambassador Barshefsky. She is exceptionally well qualified and has demonstrated her abilities and skills through her performance. We hope that she will be promptly confirmed, and we look forward to working with her as our Trade Representative."
