BETHLEHEM, Pa., August 2, 1996 -- Bethlehem Steel Corporation said today that the base prices for sheet products will be increased $15 per ton, effective with shipments September 29, 1996.

In addition, Bethlehem said that, effective with shipments December 29, 1996, the base price for hot rolled sheets will be increased $5 per ton, cold rolled sheets $10 per ton, and coated sheets $15 per ton.

Bethlehem said: "At present, there is a strong demand for flat rolled products, customer inventories are relatively low, and there is a good backlog of orders. These increases will help restore a fair value for our quality products."
