The Burns Harbor Division is Americas second-largest integrated steel producer. With its principal operations located on the shores of Lake Michigan in northwest Indiana, about 40 miles southeast of Chicago, Burns Harbor lies in the very heart of the largest steel-consuming region in the United States.

Burns Harbor is capable of producing annually 4.4 million tons of hot-rolled sheet, cold-rolled sheet, corrosion-resistant coated sheet and steel plates. It is a major supplier of sheet and plate products to the automotive, service center, construction, machinery and appliance markets. The Division operates a galvanizing line in Lackawanna, N.Y., and participates in joint ventures that own and operate an electro-galvanizing and hot dip coating facilities in Walbridge and Columbus, Ohio.

Location, visionary plant layout and a total commitment to its employees, community and the environment make Burns Harbor a model in the steelmaking industry.

From its very beginning in 1962, Burns Harbor was planned and built to be a leader in every way. A leader in plant design and layout to maximize efficiency throughout every phase of the steelmaking process. A leader that has formed a partnership with its employees to make the best steel in the world. A leader that is committed to being a good corporate citizen and protecting and improving the environment. A leader that prides itself on its sophisticated technology and skilled workforce.

The right location ... for customers, for raw material sourcing, for water, for the future. In the early 1960s, when Burns Harbor was being constructed, being close to customers was the first priority. Today, Burns Harbor lies in the heart of Americas largest market for steel plate and sheet products. In addition, Burns Harbor has easy access to rail, water and highway shipping routes and is ideally situated for raw material sourcing.
